If I had a Million Dollars.................

Gordon 's (Bare Naked Ladies) List of Potential purchases for his sweetheart

(If he had a $1,000,000):

A house
Furniture for the house (such as a
chesterfield or an ottoman)
A
Plymouth Reliant K-Car
A
tree fort
A little tiny
fridge to put in the tree fort, (containing pre-wrapped sausages)
A fake
fur coat (because a real fur coat would be cruel)

llama or emu)
The remains of
John (Joseph) Merrick (the "Elephant Man")
A
limousine to drive to the store
A lot more
Kraft Dinner (and fancy ketchup - dijon ketchup - to go with it)
A fake green dress (because a real green dress would be cruel - this line is a direct reference to the line about the fur coat)
Some art (a
Picasso or a Garfunkel)
A
monkey
"Your love"

What would you buy?

PS We would all buy a Sydney Lens for David since his sweetheart won't!

Looking for Similiarities

Saturday while dining with Shamu one of my fellow diners asked, "Which one is the real Shamu".

Her answer, "Well do you know who Hannah Montana is? Just like how Miley Cyrus uses Hannah Montana and Miley Stewart as a different name. Which ever killer whale is performing uses Shamu for their stage name."

Hmmm, ok

Yes I dined with Shamu

Where am I Parked?

If you have been on the phone with me when I leave or land at the airport, you have heard me say, "Where in the hell am I parked?". My new photo collection seems to be working. Haven't been lost in a week! PS Pocket Pal didnt work!

I am turning into Dave Thomas

No, not the Wendy's guy. The guy in Pasadena married to Kim Thomas. How do I know?

I go to San Diego and take pictures of cool surroundings instead of people .

My Birthday Gift

12 years ago today I received the best birthday gift ever. A little girl that I held in my arms all night. I found it remarkable we had the same dimple, the same lazy eye and a mole in the exact same spot. I found it even more remarkable that I was the one that could comfort you from crying. "I guess that makes me the mom".

We are both year of the Rat and Aquarians. And neither one of us like getting out of bed!

I love you pretty girl!!!

Best Ebay name ever

I go through my phases when ebay consumes my life. It has been a while since I have purchased anything over the top (for example that orange dress that was a size 2 with a broken zipper).

PS My latest purchases include a guitar rug for "music central" and guitar metal art (very much needed commodities).

Laura is Jane

Question of 2007 was Why Jane? (for the answer to this and other life questions http://kim1champ.blogspot.com/2006/10/another-ms-pac-man-champ.html)

Laura is Jane. As of January 28, 2008 my URL will change from laurarmckay.blogspot to lauraisjane.blogspot.com (you can look now but you wont see any cute pics or earth shattering funny stories)

If I'm in your favorites: 6 days to the big change.

2008 is Great!

Super Bowl XLII

Is it just me or does the logo for the JobingArena for the Super Bowl XLII look like a shell that should house Ariel's voice?
.
Oh by the way in case you thought this post had something to do with a football game being played in Glendale, AZ on 2-3-08, there are at this moment 12 days 9 hours 7 min left until kick off.

My first acronym

Remember in Jr High when you first start learning about music. Back in the day you were super cool when you knew the artist and the song, It is not near as easy as today (quick internet search, xM radio just putting it out there for you).
So, flashback to 1985. OMD. I was so so so so so cool when I could tell all of my friends that OMD meant Orchestral Manuevers in the Dark (only because I stayed up late and the DJ on B101 FM explained it).

So, I was born on a Tuesday

Long boring meetings result in mind wondering. Today's mind wondering is brought to you courtesy of the cool new calendar that Diane bought for me. It has calendars from the years 1800-2050 with an index to easily locate the year you need. I needed to look at my availability for a meeting and then the flood gates of wondering let loose.

I am really sad for all of those kids that don't get adopted (ok so the mind took a couple steps to get there. When I was a kid there was a special on Wednesdays Child on kids that needed a foster home).

Mondays child is fair of face,
Tuesdays child is full of grace,
Wednesdays child is full of woe,
Thursdays child has far to go,
Fridays child is loving and giving,
Saturdays child works hard for his living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

2008 is Great!

Last year I revised the title of "my list of things to do before I die" to read the "list of things to do while alive".

As I check a couple items off of the list the next one is run a marathon. Dad motivated me years ago, all the siblings rocked at PF Chang's last year and now Oklahoma in April. By the end of 2o08 I will run a marathon. There now it is said, now it just needs to be done!

Ok girls wanna run with me?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD

Only a dad with a tired face,
Coming home from the daily race,
Bringing little of gold or fame
To show how well he has played the game;
But glad in his heart that his own rejoice
To see him come and to hear his voice.
.
Only a dad with a brood of four (OR FIVE),
One of ten million men or more
Plodding along in the daily strife,
Bearing the whips and the scorns of life,
With never a whimper of pain or hate,
For the sake of those who at home await.
.
Only a dad, neither rich nor proud,
Merely one of the surging crowd,
Toiling, striving from day to day,
Facing whatever may come his way,
Silent whenever the harsh condemn,
And bearing it all for the love of them.
.
Only a dad but he gives his all,
To smooth the way for his children small,
Doing with courage stern and grim
The deeds that his father did for him.
This is the line that for him I pen:
.
Only a dad, but the best of men
....Edgar A. Guest

This page is dedicated to my dad, David He is "the best of men."
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

In Response to Kim's Blog

At the risk of annoying (and possibly entertaining) blog followers here is my response to kim's blog http://kim1champ.blogspot.com/2008/01/in-response-to-jane-says-blog.html

Your wish is my command (finally)

For as long as I have known the champ she has wanted to arrive in Phoenix with a message waiting for her. Last night when I arrived every where I turned I thought of her. To name a few: Wendy's vanilla shake, See's Bordeaux Candy, The Family Bathroom, closed Starbucks, Chili's, a bottle of ketchup. (In my head I am singing "How can I forget you girl Not by the Flock of Sea Gulls).

So I get this brilliant idea to go to the white paging phone and leave a message. 20 minutes (not 22) later I get annoyed that it still hasn't shown up on the screen. I then resubmit the page for her entertainment and take a picture before it gets lost in operator hell.

Oh by the way I get in the car with heartburn from the baked ziti at the Burbank airport and what is waiting for me? A bottle of tums purchased for the pg Kim on the last visit.

How can I forget you girl............................
KIM THOMAS PLEASE PICK UP THE WHITE PAGING PHONE

Where in the World? KT's office, Pasadena CA

The other morning I woke up singing "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego" after an odd dream of traveling with my old hero. The song has been stuck in my head since then. I have tried to push it out but it keeps returning.

Since the world is a blog I decided to use this as a new series. So, here is the first of many. Where in the World is Jane?

Today while searching for Disney Princess Quotes (long story) I came upon the meaning of Belle and Aurora. This sparked my curiosity and I started checking other Princesses

Ariel - Lion of God
Aurora- Dawn
Belle - Beautiful
Cinderella - Little Ash Girl
Giselle - Hostage
Jasmine - Jasmine
Pocahontas - She is playful
Brittney -Land of the Britons
Jessica - Debated Meanings
Melody -Melody
Sydney-Wide Meadow

Since Giselle was highlighted recently, I was particullary interested in her name. Maybe she wasnt safe in my car afterall.

How fortunate that Gisselle is safely buckled for transit in my vehicle. Not what I expected when looking in the rear view mirror.
