My view

Remember the exhilaration when you first got your drivers license? It wasn't just a license to drive but a license of freedom. Freedom on the road - not having to wait for someone to pick you up, being able to listen to your own music, always being shot gun, and choosing the path to travel . Those roads we travel take us to and from work and school. They take us to visit friends and relatives. They symbolize rites of passage - birth of a child, first date, senior prom, wedding, and even death.
.
Because roads are everywhere we often forget them. yet there is almost always a road associated with every place we go and every important event in our lives. Riding the open road triggers those memories of the important moments in ones life. Memories of the roads long since past and the thrill of those to come.
.
All that from a 342 mile ride.
.
What a great weekend!

Call of Duty

.
.
Every so often you meet someone that touches little pieces of so many people's lives that it because impossible to share how great they are. Dr Marc Matthews (Dutch) is a trauma surgeon at Maricopa Integrated Health System that has impressed me since the day I met him. He not only saves lives but has an honorable passion for what is true and good.
.
I was forunate enough to be a part of a large crowd that observed him being installed into the Arizona Air National Guard this week. A true commitment that will further expand his legacy.
.
Congrats Dutch!
.
Oh, and by the way. When you do run for Governor, I am still vying for the position of Campaign Manager.

Remember when Ruth had 2 kids?

Calling all Historians

.
Last weekend I sent Melody with my camera to the family reunion with instructions to take lots of pictures. Over the 3 day period she took 14 pictures.

While I am highly entertained by her photos and take of the world I have no idea how Troy's oldest or what anyone but my Aunt Darlene looks like these days. Anyone taking family pictures please send to me.
.
In the meantime, how funny is that model?

Kim and Laura Show (Episode 1)

Several months ago Kim and I decided that we needed a reality show. If the Biggest Losers were Keeping up with the Kardashians or if the Girls Next Door were being likened to the Real Life Housewives of Atlanta them surely The Bachelor (and others) would be entertained by Two Overclocking IT Chicks.

So Episode 1

IT Geeks

I have now worked in IT for just over 2 years. I often make fun of the non-creativity of my peers and the fact that blue shirts is their attire of choice (I have only seen the Chief Technology Architect wear this color of blue). Don't ask how I wound up wearing the uniform today and got caught in the hallway with 2 twins.

Other amusing things to look at: badges on the waste (a no no in the health care setting, blackberries on the hip (and of course mine is on the left side up front and visible), matching glasses. At least I have my lap top and I'm not wearing a white t-shirt.

It's about time :)

To Family and Friends,

I decided to join the blogging world. Enjoy! Just remember I am so new at this so it will be very basic. I will have to have help from my blogging family and friends to figure out how to get all the cute stuff!

Hope to hear from you all!

Love,
Megan

Chef of the Year

About a month ago I put two potatoes in the oven, shortly thereafter I went to bed. The 12 hour baked potatoes were so unrecognizable that I filed it away as a lesson learned (you know, when cooking remember that you are).

Yesterday morning I was making breakfast and Jessica requested hard boiled eggs. I told her they take too long to cook but I would start them boiling for lunch. Fast forward 2.5 hours. We are watching a movie and we hear a loud noise in the kitchen. I jump over the back of the couch (Against the rules which Jessica reminds me of later). And run into the kitchen to see an egg explode. Oh dear 2.5 hour cooked eggs are worse than 12 hour baked potatoes.

Jessica's last comment (after scolding me again for jumping over the back of the couch) was, "arent hard bolied eggs supposed to be cooked in water?"

Look alike (Owen vs Alex)

Last Fall I was watching The Waterhorse, Legend of the Deep. The main character, Angus MacMorrow came on the screen. I immediately sent my sister in law a text message telling her I couldnt believe how much my nephew looked like him. Apparently I wasnt the first :). I watched the rest of the movie spooked by their similiarities. Yesterday the preview came on and the room was in awe.

Look a like meter says 9 out of 1o

Yesterday we went to Taco Time. As we walked in the door there was a tomato warning. How perfect with Chris here. We laughed and laughed. Then she gets her Taco and lo and behold it's infested with tomatoes.
Do you return it? (We didn't she seems to be fine)

Round Mound of Rebound

Back in the day (1994), we were Suns fiends. So much so that when driving to Minnesota we stopped on the way there, found a bar (where my mom was carded - that's a whole other blog) and watched the Suns versus the Bulls in the finals. Charles Barkley was my favorite. Called by the media as the Governor of Alabama who would speak his mind on anything, called by critics as the "round mound of rebound".
Ok fast forward 14 years.

We all age. We all gain and lose weight. Poor Charles. In his latest on TV interview I kept looking at him thinking "blue round mound". While on air Michael Jordon texted him to tell him he looked like a big blueberry. He may be right.

Gma Rae (pronounced Gee May Rae)

I let Brittney use the camera on the last day of school. In reviewing her pictures I discovered this one with grandma cheerfully driving them.

According to the grandchildren Gma Rae is the funniest, nicest person they know (the daughter agrees).

BTW Jessica loves the popsicles and pickles that are always promptly provided.

How to Bury a Child at the Beach

Step 1: Dig a hole
Step 2 : Pour sand in (make sure you keep it away from the mouth
Step 3: Family smiles with Child
Step 4: Child smiles alone
Step 5-6: Wiggle you way out and run to the ocean to empty sand out of your swim suit (For obvious reasons, not pictured here)

Is left really the better side?

Because I am in the historian I discovered a couple years ago that there was fewer pictures of me than anyone else in the family. I started a concerted effort to make sure that I was in at least a few, of course all staged. My newest has been to take the pictures my self. I have gotten the art form down pretty well, and if you look many of the self-shots look darn near identical.

For years I have said that my left side is the better looking side (much to the chattering of others). It appears if I am doing self-shots than I need to be on the right side (or start practicing the pose being on the left.)

RIGHT
