Christmas Cousins

Love watching these two helping, bonding, sharing, connecting over the holiday.

Christmas Eve 2013

We hosted Christmas Eve this year.  We decided that decorating a flocked (a new vocab word for CEM) tree old fashioned style would be a fun new tradition (thank you Aunt Teri for the research ;) )

1030 am we got the second to last flocked tree at 1/2 price (the lot was closing down)
1100 am the tree is in place
530 pm my girls and I looking cute (a far improvement from 1030 am)
545 pm the popcorn threading begins
645 pm Clark and Ethan are threading g popcorn (and all the kids tried cranberries thanks to Uncle Dans proding).
715 pm Herston loved the decorating the most because "there are no rules"
830 pm and presents later all kids present posed
831 pm and the mamas
915 pm quiet house and a beautiful tree

The difference a lens makes

After the loss of her glasses Tarzan determined she had to have a new pair.

Bigger than your head. Rice Crispy edition

CEM needed 5 dozen rice crispy treats for her school party (celebration, not to be confused with a PARTY) last week.  She pulled out the professional cookie sheet and 3 bags of marshmallows and two boxes of Fruity Pebbles later we had a huge amount of treats.

Without a print of reference it didn't look so big

But with REM's head as the reference point.  It did justice for the large size

On a rare visit to Denny's

This is the conversation between Tarzan and I.
What is this menu?
What an odd idea
Is this really appropriate for Denny's clientele?
Do you think the did market research?
Can you picture that first pitch and white boarding session with Warner Brothers and Denny's executives?
But damn the sweet potato pancakes were good.

Happy Birthday Kim!

The first forty years of life give us the text: the next thirty supply the commentary.
                     Arthur Schopenhauer

Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?

The Cheshire Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to. Who are you?

Alice: I don't much care where. I'm Kim Thomas

The Cheshire Cat: Then it doesn't much matter which way you go.

Alice: ...So long as I get somewhere.

The Cheshire Cat: Oh, you're sure to do that, if only you walk long enough. I don't know a Kim Thomas........

So fortunate to have been a text contributor for past 7 years.  So blessed to be a part of the ongoing commentary!!

Happy 40th Birthday!!!

Disneyland and technology

What it looks like:

Not what it looks like:

We went to Disneyland today to do a pre/celebration of Kim's 40th birthday at Club 33 (awesome!  Check out kim1champ.com for full details).  Throughout the day we mocked those that were on their phones not enjoying the experience (the row of kids playing on theirs during the entire Pirates of the Caribbean ride, the kids at lunch with the phones propped up watching a video, the iPad in entertainment in line.)

At some point Kim captured Tarzan, David and I manipulating our phones in someway (I was taking a photo).  When Kim tried to entertain us with her capture David says "I'll one up you " with the above photo.

As you know a snapshot is never accurate. This is actually 3 IT Geeks trying to exchange 250 pictures with AirDrop (conclusion: this was a bad spot.  We moved to Starbucks for the successful exchange).

Free Photos with Santa - Bass Pro Style

The original title of this post was going to be "You are never too old too have your picture with Santa"

This title quickly changed when we got to Bass Pro Shop for our free photo with Santa at 445 and was told that we could not even get into line until 8 pm (and this was based on having a Bass Pass since we are healthcare heroes).

So this is our picture with Santa (this is very typical of the patrons in line waiting for the free photo)
And these are the Christmas photos taken at the store since we were all dressed and prepared
(Yes, this reindeer did indeed talk but we couldnt get him to pose)
