I trust Gerber

For months (since Sydney has been eating real food) I have been telling her mother to try out the food she is feeding her. I am aware that baby food is not the best tasting, however it is important to at least try a little bite of each to 1. understand your baby's palate and 2. decide for yourself if it is is good or not 3. wear the badge of honor that you did.

Last night Sydney had Vegetable Puffs (not bad tasting, a little salty) and Pin wheels (terrible tasted like corrugated cardboard) and squash (not warm enough, awful texture). I finally got her mother to try the Puffs and the squash.

The discussion at dinner was around trying baby food. Still not something she is going to buy into.

Fast forward to discussion after dinner. Apparently Sydney has been chewing on the blackberry cord. As a concern for her safety Kim decided to to bite into the cord. It gave her a slight buzz.

Jane: You will eat the cord but not the food
Kim: Well I am concerned for her safety
Jane: And you are not concerned about the safety of food going into her mouth?
Kim: Well I trust Gerber

I had to laugh out loud at this one!!

I bow to you who are parents, I probably would have just let Sydney chew all the way through the cord before I thought about trying it myself.

hmmm...what to say about a mother that won't try fda approved food, but will chew on a cord just to see if it's 'safe' for her daughter to do the same. i was never allow to chew on cords - no matter how "safe" (or good tasting) they were! =P

thanks for the LAUGH, jane!!

RO. Maybe that should be the baby shower game. Instead of "guess which candy bar is in the diaper" we should have done tasting/IDing baby food flavors?

This is hysterical! The day I stopped trying babyfood was the day I introduced meat. It was also the first and last time I fed my child meat babyfood! Yes, it tastes as bad as it looks!

Well, Just make sure to keep her away from the Laptop cord. My daughter put that in her mouth and jumped back about 3 feet. She got quite a jolt.

But I am with Kim. I trusted Gerber too, as there was NO way I was eating that stuff.

There are so many things wrong with this story. LOL.... I had coffee with Kim last week and Sydney was eating jambalaya. I said to kim, "i didn't know sydney could at people food". Kim's reply, "she really shouldn't be but she refuses to eat baby food." LOL. I bet if Sydney saw Kim eating her baby food she would finally start eating the food she is supposed to. That little girl is so funny.

I never once tasted baby food with any of my three children. I guess I trusted Gerber too. I would never bite a cord either. Thanks for the laugh!
