The Community Quilt (circa 2004)

It was late November 2004 and I was reminded of the commitment I made to to make a hand made quilt by December 7. The quilt was for a charity auction for the Cookie Company for the first showing of the Quiltmakers Gift. Family, neighbors and kids gathered around and finished with 2 days to spare.

Talk about a miracle.
We shared stories and felt the sense of community.
(And it raised $300)

procrastination pays off. This is fantastic... even more so because of the bonding and teamwork that went into it

I swore off hand quilting anything ever again after I quilted my finger to the underside of the quilt.

It is great that you had so many people join in and help out. That harks back to an era that is long gone.

I think we should push for a HCBC quilting bee sometime!!

That is beautiful! The next quilt I make has to be Al's. I've made the little ones' each one. You should see the God-awful fabrics he has selected. Solid bright orange, solid bright yellow and then black with orange & yellow flames. See why I keep coming up with other stuff to make first?

It did turn out great - I should have bought it. I can't believe that was 4 years ago. Mom
