ScaredyCat

When MJM was 7 years old she went swimming with the dolphins.  This may sound like a simple, fun activity.  But it was much more. In fact I have referenced this as life changing.

She changed.  She saw something she wanted, and conquered any fears she had around getting in the water, being away from her sister and parents, swimming with an animal 25 times her size.  After this she fell in love with activities where she could control her fear.  Roller coasters and haunted houses moved to the top of her list (now anyone who knows her sister REM would assume with her personality that this was her gig, let me confirm that that child is much more like her mom and would choose to stay away or online shop rather than put yourself in this situation).

Somewhere close to the dolphin adventure MJM decided she wanted to work at a Haunted House. She has looked at, explored, talked about and been a participant at every Haunted House in town (and most out of town - except for NYC because it was June and I refused to go).

This season she applied for and finally made this goal come true.  I will tell you, I have never been so proud of this girl. She has given up every weekend for the past six weeks. She has gone so far out of her comfort zone. Every night the bloody pic she sends me warms my heart.  My beautiful girl and ugly herself up well.  Her passion has been so strong she even convinced CEM to work one night with her.

With the end of this season I know she'll grieve not being there with her new found friends.  This was not just a Haunted House. It wasn't just learning the art of the scare.  This too was life changing............
