Last weekend we were in Vegas and were overwhelmed with decorations for the Chinese New Year. The hotel clerk told us it was the year of the Sheep (Tarzan, Jess and CEM all hail under this zodiac sign). Then we went somewhere and they said it was the year of the Goat. Upon arriving from Vegas we went straight to the nail salon for a much needed fill and I asked them if it was the Sheep or the Goat. The answer was vague.
Finally I looked to my friend Wikipedia
Some Chinese words are vague and not as specific as English words, so yang could refer to a goat, sheep or even a ram. But in ancient times, Zuo says, that Chinese character meant goat.
So its both - Happy Chinese New Year!
