Good bye Alaina Whitaker

I am not an American Idol fan, in fact the whole sport of watching American Idol is like watching the World Series for me. You watch the first game to know who the players are and then you watch the last 5 minutes of the final game so you can speak to it at the water cooler.
.
Tonight I got the official intro to watching the 3 tivo'ed days at light speed in my brother's living room. He had already watched it so fast forwarded through the mediocre then watched the good in awe and laughed over the top with the bad.
.
And then the elimination. Who knew it was so emotional. Poor Alaina, Ryan Seacrest did no favors in announcing her departure. She reacted exactly as I would, tears. And sitting there in Joe's living room all I could do is laugh as we paused at the reactions of others.
Secret to My Success
Short or long hair I am a hot rollers girl. My poor children suffer the embarrassment of their mother's heavy head when I drop them off to school in the morning.
Commuters love the look on the freeway.
It has been brought to my attention that I am one of only 5 people left in the country that use them.
So to the other 4 of you out there: here's to great volume and well kept hair!

Treasure Hunting
This weekend at the park we met a new friend. Jessica asked where her mommy was. She said she was there with her grandma who was "treasure hunting".
This brought me back to my childhood when I would watch people at the park across from my house use a metal detector for hours coming up with nothing.
Brittney asked our new friend if her grandma had found anything. The response was, "Two pennies yesterday". As we were leaving we asked what her loot was today. "$.15 cents".
Hmm $.17 in two days. I wonder how long it will take to pay off the metal detector. I also wonder if somewhere beside the Elementary School Park might be more lucrative.

Happy President's Day
Jessica comes home with this artwork from school last week. She informs me that it is Presidents Day on Monday and she made the profile of the President's whose birthdays were are celebrating. She informs me that February 18 is neither George Washington nor Abraham Lincoln's birthday and in fact it lands in the middle of both of their birthday.
She then asks me if I know who is who on the profiles. I pointed to the black one and said thats Abraham Lincoln. She takes them back and says, "Oh dear. Neither one looks like Abraham Lincoln or George Washington." After further investigation with a dismayed voice she says, "my teacher said I did a good job but I dont think even their mommies would recognize them."

Dont believe what you see
Yesterday while Goodwill hopping I found this sign (if it would have been less than $7.99 I would have bought it). I take a picture and tell Kim that I found our scripture. When I sent her the photo she finds at obvious error.
Questioning the artwork but second guessing herself she goes home to reference Proverbs 22:6. She is right. this scripture above should be Proverbs 17:17.
Three thoughts:
1. One more time the Universe has put 22 in my world.
2. Who knew that Kim knew the bible that well.
3. Maybe it really was worth $7.99.

Four Eyes
Plan A: Growing up I was just vain enough that I would sit on the front row in class so that I wouldnt have to wear glasses. It wasnt until I was 16 when I started to drive that I had to wear them.
Plan B: I would wear them but take them off for pictures. Up until this year I cant point out even one photo of me that existed with glasses.
Plan C: I finally gave in and got contacts.
Plan D: Since I quit wearing contacts on May 15 (even National Vanity Day didnt bring them back) I somehow started allowing pictures with my glasses. Even the HCBC pic has Jane in it with glasses.
Please tell me I dont look as awkward as Sophia Loren in her four eyes. I made need a contact intervention.

VIRUS ALERT: Valentine's Day Virus
I love Valentine's Day. Even if it is a bit commercialized. I had great plans of doing a I love you post (goo goo goo). However this email came out from corporate today. Much more becoming for the blog and my way of I saying I love all of you.

Holidays and special calendar events are often targeted by viruses. It is a good rule of thumb to be aware during these times.
As a case in point, the FBI is reporting that a Valentine’s Day email containing a ‘bot’ will be distributed on Thursday, February 14th. We request that you do the following:
1.) Be extremely careful with ‘email’ Valentine’s Day messages. Don’t open anything that is from somebody you don’t recognize, but understand that even if you do recognize them, there is no guarantee that what they sent to you won’t be something malicious.
2.) If there is a link in the email, check the link by right-clicking the properties. If the link is not something very well known (like Blue Mountain Cards) it is best not to left-click the link.
For more information on the Valentine’s Day virus please visit http://www.fbi.gov/cyberinvest/escams.htm.
Thank you (I think he should say I love you),
Jim Motes

Save these Instructions
For Christmas I got a new waffle maker with removal plates (for ease of wash). This morning I finally opened it. While the unit was warming up I read the IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS and SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
.
My favorite is as follows:
A. A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks presented by a long cords such as entanglement and tripping.
Damn how would you like to have been the lawyer in that case?

Franzella Faye
When I was pregnant with Melody I wanted to name her after my great grandma: Franzella Faye (then call her Ze'ly). While no one liked the name it was a go until I was 6 months along and it was discovered that she never liked her name (which is why she went by Faye).
I have convinced Melody that this is a great name and she has even committed at age 10 to name her first daughter this.
It has been brought to my attention by those closest to me that this is a terrible name. I still love the name and would appreciate continued affirmation so that some day my grand daughter can carry the name.
Thank you in advance :)

New Member of My Family!
As many of you know Jessica turned 5 this year. If you didnt know better you would think she is as old as her sisters. As such, gifts and purchased items are usually along the lines of make up or Hannah Montana CD's. This year her aunt bought her very first doll.
"Brittney Mackenzie" now goes everywhere. Saturday at Melody's basketball game she gets her photo taken with her mommy and great grandma.
Shortly thereafter Jessica has grandma (me) hold the baby while she takes a picture. Hmmmmm looks like BM made the second pic too.

In the course of a normal conversation one BFF says to the other, I really need to get a pedicure, the other says, "mine are pretty bad, I'll show you" (for those of you non-blackberry users this is reason #290 that I love my blackberry).

So ugly feet aside, who needs it more?
