The Voice

A positive/negative of working from a home office is that you cant just throw a crumpled paper over the top of your cube to get someone to go get coffee with you, or close your office door to gossip with the new Radiology Information Management Manager. So when you meet someone new I will put a face to the voice. Sometimes I am right on. Sometimes I miss the ethnicity and size so badly that one would question my hearing skills.

My last 16 work hours have been working on a project with Jeff and Kristin. I have no idea what either of these two Dell colleague's look like (I did give Jeff hair in my mind until he gave a clue yesterday that he was bald). So I googled the following images.

My best guess of what Jeff looks like
(unknown male who showed up on google images)

My best guess of what Kristin looks like
(Ginger Zee, ABC Good Morning America)

Via this blog they will see what I look like as we finish the next 4 hours this morning.

I blame Alice

The dishwasher broke my coffee cup. I'm just picking someone to blame to see if I still know how to do a guilt trip, or maybe just to get a comment.

Past, Present, Future

Daily Horoscope: Aquarius

YESTERDAY

Your concentration should be high today, Aquarius. You're likely to be more observant than usual. Don't be surprised if you find yourself noticing people and sensing their thoughts and feelings even more than usual. This is a good day to read, study, attend a class, or otherwise acquire new information. You may discover something new about a subject that really interests you, and you might want to spend the day reading about it.

TODAY

Today is a day to roll with the punches, Aquarius. Don't take anything too seriously, and refrain from making any major decisions. You might get the sense that something or someone is working behind the scenes without your knowledge. Trust your instincts. See what you can do to bridge the gap between reality and what you sense from the spiritual world. Visit the ocean or take a long walk in the woods

TOMORROW

Attempts to master a new computer program or other form of high-tech equipment could seem to be going nowhere, Aquarius. You might tend to doubt your ability and thus feel very frustrated. However, keep at it. You aren't beyond all help! Nothing more than a little focus, concentration, and dogged persistence is required. It might also pay to ask someone's help who knows more about it.

What's in a bag

CEM had an early morning soccer game (no she is not #75, I just liked this zealous car).

REM, as a dutiful sister was sitting by. Amused mother noted the following in her bag:

2 mascaras
1 shirt
Deodorant
Headphones
Glasses case
Hot type cheetos snack
Tiger balm

Leap Day

photo Skip Dickstein/Albany Times Union

In high school Amy and I discovered The Pirate Movie. This was the first time I understood the phenomenon of exploitation when a person claims to be only a quarter of their actual age, by counting their leap-year birthday anniversaries only. If you havent seen this 1982 classic (I use the term classic loosely) based on Gilbert and Sullivans 1879 Pirate of Penzance with Kristy McNichol (and how did we not know she was gay back then) and Christopher Atkins (definitely not gay) its well worth your comedic quota (and you too can appreciate this phenomenon)

So, Christopher Atkins plays a character Frederic . Frederic the pirate apprentice discovers that he is bound to serve the pirates until his 21st birthday rather than until his 21st year.

So here's to Frederic today (and to my cute husband who gave me a Leap Day card this morning)

By the way, according to Wikipedia: For legal purposes, legal birthdays depend on how local laws count time intervals.

In with the new....

Just a few highlights:

-I can pick times on the microwave (no more pushing popcorn)
-can boil water in 1 min vs 4 in old microwave
-can boil water in 2 min vs 15 on old stove
-oven preheats in 5 min vs 30
-oven heats on other functions besides broil

Brooke is 2

I used my Neat scanner for the first time today.

I purchased it when Kim was in the last couple days of pregnancy with Brooke.

Sunday night fireside chat

Electronics included

Thanks in advance for using Thank you

If Thank You is more formal, and more grateful than Thanks - then what is Thx in texting?

Is this like using Xmas instead of Christmas? (A major pet peeve of mine btw since you are Xing out Christ)

It just may be a new passion for me. I would suggest for something important, say Thank You.

and Thank You for loving me!

My date with CEM

CEM:  I think they have been here for a while
Mom:   I agree (thinking because of messy table)
CEM:    I mean there are #2 and we are 78. Btw that girls name couldn't have been Adam
Mom:   What?
CEM:   The receipt. That was a girl not a boy behind the register. And what is the difference between 81 and 78
Mom:   Not sure, what's the difference between receipt number and receipt copy
CEM:     Do they really need to track that much stuff?
