Labryinth

When Amy was here last week we watched Pirate Movie and Grease 2 (only the best musicals of all times). We then started discussing 80's movies that deserved another viewing.

So today we watched Labryinth again (best soundtrack ever!) . It's even better as an adult. Jennifer Connelly is only 16 and Jim Henson has great puppets (Amy I still didnt catch the shoes).

When I was a kid, we would play Beauty Pageant. It would include bathing suit, formal, interview and talent competition. Mom got to judge and pick the categories we were the winner in (after the grave error of actually crowning Tami Miss Fruit leaving Paula and I always the runner up's)

Turtles of Joy

I am a non-pet owner. In fact I wonder if pets really do bring joy to their owners (you don't own anything it owns you - sorry Katie, sorry Spot).

I am however the pet sitter. Charlie has come to visit on occassion and this week Tami asked if I could watch the turtles. I somehow thought this would mean going to her house once a day to feed. However, I was unaware of the complexity of a turtles life. They really need much more interaction than that.
.
So last night Dan delivered the monster tank, fish food (ickk) and 4 happy turtles. After receiving the speech on how they needed human interaction I was a little surprised to find out that they didnt have names; or if they did than Dan was unaware of what they are.
.
So, let me introduce you to Sky, Misty, Frederick and Mable as named by CEM and I.
.
If turtles are going to bring you joy you really must have a name for them.

My best sisters ever

Last week when driving home from the Grand Canyon (as mentioned previously a long drive for sure). The children are doing the typical complaining: "mom's she is sitting in my space", "mom I dont have any room", "mom how long before we stop", "mom she is so annoying".

After the separation of the sisters occurs with mom giving assignments. "MJM you listen to you ipod, REM you read, CEM draw a picture". CEM draws the most loving picture of her sisters.

For those of you who lost faith. Nothing better than the customized Starbucks Chai. Especially after a failed miss and 3 closed stores.

Chihuly

It is often said that locals don't experience or know what is going on in their home town. So, last week when Amy sends me an email with a link to the Chihuly exhibit the Desert Botanical Gardens with a "can we go?", I responded heck yeah (and quickly did research to figure out what it was).
.
It was so flipping cool (cool as in awesome, not temperature cool since we only lasted a little over an hour in the way too hot Arizona heat).
.
Glass blown artwork in the middle of the desert (this is educational and non-commercially reported). For the locals, I would highly reccommend. For the non-locals worth a trip.

Its all about the luck

I am the luckiest girl alive (just ask my kids or anyone that is the car with me when I am looking for a parking space).
